Fertilizer

I have 2 blue sky vines that are new to our garden this year. From March thru May both were budding and blooming beautifully. They are both in large pots at either end of the arbor my husband and son built. I did fertilize them when I put them in their new pots in March. We had 3 weeks of rain and as hot as it gets here and have broken records for heat. I keep them watered daily and they have grown quite a bit as I’m sure you can imagine. My problem is both have stopped budding leaves are more of a mint green instead of the dark green in April may. Some new growth has begun to turn a darker green , but most is light pale green. Worse is not one bud since the heat and rain arrived. I’ve researched these plants for central Florida and have heard add water based fertilizer. DO Not fertilize or you won’t get any flowers and lastly add bone meal and be patient! Please help me do the right thing! I also have a red Passion flower plant that my husband did use miracle grow on and she is beginning to bud like crazy ! (yes I almost cried when he admitted to trying this, but perhaps it worked?) or like I said she was ready to bud this time of year?
Thank you for all of your wonderful gardening tips news letters, let me not forget the help I received becoming new to butterfly gardening! I am disabled and unable to have the gardens I’ve had in past years (all pots are disguised in pots making it easier for me). We are just about finished with our court yard garden and I’m so happy to return to it after 5 years.

Best personal regards
Cheryl ?

In a warm climate these vines do best with a partial shade location. Ideal would be morning sun with afternoon shade; or a dappled sun location. This is likely the cause of lightening leaf color; too much sun and heat.
