Feeding the star Jasmine

First of all to clarify that I have the correct Jasmine. Is the Star J the one with the sweet heavy perfume with a mass of white flowers? What is a good feeder that contains phosphorus please and do you think mushroom compost would cut it? I have tried to grow J 2x before but I think the soil needs something. It is a small piece of garden do you think I need to dig it out and replace it with new soil or just mulch heavily?
Many thanks
C

Both star jasmine and true jasmine are very fragrant, but star jasmine looks like the following images:

Mushroom compost is quite low in phosphorus. Bone meal is a great way to add phosphorus to a garden:

Rock phosphate or synthetic fertilizers are other options:

If your jasmine has died twice before, there could be something wrong with the planting site. Will anything grow there? If not, replacing the soil may be necessary. You could also do a pH test to see if the pH is a problem. Also, check the drainage to make sure plants aren’t drowning. You can try the drainage test in the following article, or simply watch the area after a rain or after watering to see if the soil stays waterlogged for a long time.
