2 Comments To "Eliminate Maple Seedlings Sprouting Among A Yard Of Hosta, Lily Of The Valley, Etc. Where Mowing Isn’t Possible"

There is no easy solution here. You could dig up the Hosta and some of the lily of the valley then spray with an herbicide and replant the Hosta and restart the lily of the valley.
If there are too many Hosta to dig up, you could try covering the Hosta, then spraying carefully with an herbicide. It is rather tedious in a large area but you also can "paint" the herbicide on the seedlings.
You can use a hoe or shovel to dig several seedlings up at a time rather than hand pulling.
