elephant ear plant grown inside in a pot

Long ‘roots’ have grown outside the pot and I don’t know if I can cut them off or cut them shorter, re-pot the plant into a bigger plant where the ‘root’ can be put inside the pot.

It will not hurt to cut these roots sticking out, however it would be a better idea to transplant these to a bigger pot. Here is an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/elephant-ear/growing-elephant-ear-plants.htm [1]
