Dying Rose Bushes

When we moved in, there was a big beautiful bush that bloomed light pink roses (with thorns) but only a few blooms ever live to bud out. Most are dying while they are still a bud. We tried moving the bush. We broke it up into three bushes because it was so large and washed the roots and dusted and debugged, but it is still dying. It also spreads rapidly. Little shoots come up from the ground but when they get large enough to bud out, the buds die. Not sure what is wrong with it. The flowers are light pink and have a tea smell. The leaves are a dark green and small. I would appreciate any help you can offer!

It could be a virus and if that is the case, it is best to get rid of the bush and start over. A climber such as New Dawn or even better Awakening are nice. There are a lot of pink roses so could be hard to tell what her name is. If just the buds were affected, I would say it could be thrips. They are small bugs that like to attack the buds, hard to spot them too! It is also hard to kill the thrips as it is hard to hit them with sprays being burrowed into the buds. A systemic is probably the best bet in getting rid of the thrips.
