Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have very poor drainage in my backyard where the land slopes down (away from the house). I bought wax myrtle, thinking they could tolerate the moisture, but now I’m not so sure. I’ve looked into French drains/E-Z drains but can I still plant trees/shrubs near those?

Wax Myrtle need a well draining soil, so they would not be a good choice if your soil is soggy or poorly draining.
