Double knockout roses

Question

Have just planted some beautiful double knockout roses in our xeroscape bed. We first put a weed barrier down, plus a drip line, planted out plants and used crush granite to finish it. Ok so our plants were beautiful and now seems like they are under stress and dying.. On top of that this weekend we will might have a snow….any chance for their survival ? My first try at these!

It sounds like you are having more a weather issue than any other issues. Where I live we have had such problems as well. The night time temps have dipped down low enough so as to caused frost bite on many of my roses foliage. Once bitten, the foliage wilts and dies. The snow and the low temps it brings will do even more damage typically. All we can do is wait for the weather to warm up again. Once it has warmed up wait three or four days and then prune out all truly dead and damaged foliage. Hand water the rosebushes with some water that has a product called Super Thrive and a good root stimulator mixed into the same water. Do this watering the next four to five times the rosebushes need watering once the weather has stabilized. The Super Thrive goes a long way in helping the rosebushes deal with the stresses the climatic conditions have placed upon them. Hopefully the temps with the snow do not dip down so low as to kill them. I live in Colorado and we are facing this terrible situation right now…..
