Dogwood tree

Why do my Dogwoods planted early spring in partial sun( morning) grow there pretty little leaves
and then the leaves immediately turn brown? I have kept water properly , as I ‘ve read, to help establish but no luck. Grandma always said I could grow a dead twig but this tree seems to turn into just that after a few weeks.

Are you watering long and deep enough? Young trees and new plantings need plenty of water. Is the soil well draining? If your watering well, but the leaves are still turning brown and dropping, the tree could be suffering root rot.
