Do banyan trees shed their leaves? The tree is located in south Florida.

They can drop leaves during a dormant period if temperatures drop low enough. They will regrow them when the weather warms up again. As it is winter (which is the dormant season) and if you have experienced temperatures below 50F on average, then this is normal.

If the dropped leaves are spotted and yellow, it may be a fungus. If you suspect a fungus, treat the tree with a fungicide.
