Dark branches

Hi there. I’ve had my umbrella plant about a year now and it was given when a relative passed away. It came from a dark cold and damp porch and I thought it was dead. I cut a lot of it away and the leaves now look a lot happier. The branches look dark and brittle and and I’m amazed that even though I thought they were dead there are shoots coming out if the little stumps that I cut back! I’m even more amazed that it’s October in England yet this beauty is blooming flowers??? Can you tell me what the black bits are in the flowers and how to restore the branches??
Many thanks Hayley

Wow! I’ve never seen a scheffelera bloom before! I am attaching instructions on pruning, but yours is kind of lanky, I would cut off about a 1/3 of the plant from the top. If you really want to rejuvenate it, you can cut branches back to 6 inches. She info below.

The black bits are most likely seeds.
