Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy cypress tree is in a container and has thrived until this summer. When it has been hotter and dryer than usual, I have watered it regularly but it appears to be dying with portions of the tree turning brown and dry. Should I cut the dead portions out and hope the rest will survive?

Increase watering. Container plantings need daily water and even twice daily if the temperatures are above 85 degrees.
You can prune away dead material.
