Cutting a cactus

I have been taking care of this cactus for around 15yrs, it is 50″ tall and 5″ thick at the widest part. It is getting too big for me to carry inside for winter and outside in the spring. I love this plant and don’t want to see anything bad happen to it. Would it be possible to cut it and repot it so I can handle it easier?

You can carefully take a cutting of the top and root it, but this must be a sterile process, or you could lose both pieces. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/cacti-succulents/scgen/propagating-cacti-and-succulents.htm [1]
