Crape myrtle new leaves burnt between the veins

I have a crepe myrtle transplanted about 1 year ago. The old leaves were getting burnt around the edges so I thought I wasn’t watering enough. Subsequently, I increased watering Now i am getting new leaves that are burnt in between the veins. Am I still not watering enough? I have clay soil and I don’t want to over water either.

I would continue the increase in water. Clay soil should retain water adequately but if you are in an area with high temps you will need to supplement with extra water.
