Crepe Myrtle

I planted a crepe myrtle in the fall and it lost its blooms as fall changed to winter. It is now spring here in Tennessee and there are no buds on the bush and it appears to be dead…not dried out but void of anything like a bud. Is it dead or am I missing something that is peculiar to the crepe myrtle?

It could be due to weather. Unusually cold weather can damage developing buds. If it suffered from any cold damage, the tree may need to be pruned. I live in the mtns of NC and our crepes do not put on leaves until at least mid-May. Bloom buds as well. Give it some time….patience will pay off.
