Crape Myrtle

I planted 2 crape myrtle trees last summer. They were beautiful, full of blooms. This winter they looked dead. They still look dead. Are they suppose to look that way? Should they be greening up by now? I live in Northwest Arkansas (zone 7).

As long as the branches/stems are alive (flexible and green inside), the plant will regrow–usually these trees show signs of growth in late spring to early summer when temps have risen more. This article should help you determine if the tree is still alive: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/environmental/how-to-tell-if-a-plant-is-dead-and-how-to-recover-an-almost-dead-plant.htm [1]
