Covering wet plants during a freeze

We are expecting 28 degree weather tonight. It has rained all night and day; therefore, the plants are wet. How should I cover them to protect from the predicted frost?

Always use a sheet to cover plants for frost protection. Remove the coverings when the temperatures warm back up in the morning hours.
