cleome – perennial or annual?

I bought a flowering Cleome in a pot and the ticket clearly said it was a perennial. On looking it up here, it seems that it is an annual. Can you enlighten me?

Thank you,
Eden Dietrich

Cleomes are considered a tender perennial.
They are hardy to zones 4-11 and will reseed in zones 8-11.
Many people grow them as an annual.
