Instead of replanting, can the hibiscus be cut back and left in the ground for winter?

Depending on your climate, hardy hibiscus can be left in the ground throughout winter. In cooler climates additional protection may be needed, such as tarps, burlap, etc. A light trim is ok but I would wait until spring before performing any worthwhile pruning.
