Can I Transplant My Canna Lilies While In Full Growth?

My Canna Lilies are overcrowded. They went wild this year with many new plants. They are showing signs of being overcrowded and I’d love to transplant some to another area. Can I do this while they are in full or partially grown and in mid-summer?
