Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have a large date Palm in the middle of my patio. We love it but the soil around it has become impacted with roots. I’d like to know what I can do with it. Can I dig out a few inches, add good loose soil and plant a groundcover? Any other suggestions?

No, don't do any digging. The best thing you could do for this palm is just add a layer of mulch.
