Can I Cut Back My Purple Fountain Grass In August Without Damaging The Plant? It Is Out Of Control And Overgrown.

Just moved into a new house and the purple fountain grass hasn’t been cut back apparently for some time and is overgrown. Should I wait until late winter? I’m afraid they will be really hard to prune if I wait until then.

It won't hurt to lightly prune it now, but wait till late winter to cut it to the ground.
