Crossing between members of the this family is rare and unlikely. On the off chance that crossing does occur, it will not show up in this year’s fruit but the seeds that are saved from them and planted next season. While many people assume cross pollination is to blame for off-flavored or strange-colored fruit, it’s usually caused by environmental conditions or disease instead.
