can ants harm azaleas

Where I have azaleas planted, there seems to be a lot of ants. Will they harm the plants?

Ants by themselves are typically not considered harmful to azaleas – however, there might be a more underlying reason why they are congregating around your azaleas and that reason is aphids, which are harmful. I would check your azaleas for an aphid infestation, just to be on the safe side.
