Boston ferns produce runners, which can be used to propagate the plant, much like a spider plant. You can actually pin the runners down on soil and they will root and form a new plant. Simply pin the runners onto the soil while still attached to the plant, and they should take root in a few weeks. Once they are rooted, you can detach them from the plant and repot.
