Bird of Paradise transplanting

Can I transplant an outdoor tree and, if so, does it have a deep tap root?

Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) does not have a tap root. It has a fleshy root system. If you live in a tropical area and can find a spot that meets its light and water requirements, yes you can plant it outside with success.
