What is wrong with a bird of paradise plant when the stalks turn brown? It has had 2 blooms on it earlier this year.

Damage from improper fertilizing can harm the plant and cause browning on the plant.
If this is a new planting, it’s important to reduce stress to the plant with proper watering and a well draining soil site.
Full sun can scorch the plant.
Aphids and crown borers can harm the plant. Keep the dead foliage removed from the base of the plant and ‘wash’ the plant with a spray of water to remove pests.
