Azalea Flowers Looking Wilted

Autumn Fire azaleas planted this spring are beginning to flower. The flowers are wilting after about a week. The temperature here in the Houston area has been reaching the mid 90’s. The soil seems damp enough – I have checked it using the finger test. I am wary of over-watering. Is the flower wilt during warmer temperatures normal? Thanks.

Unfortunately, your photo did not come through. This shrub needs to be in a mostly shaded area. It will not tolerate the sun, directly, that far south. This is a woodland plant and should be treated as such. Just don't plant them in deep shade.

With that being said- These trees need moist soil, constantly. Not wet, but slightly moist. Letting them dry out more than an inch down will cause wilting.
