Acers

Hi I am moving to a new home with a north west facing garden,would you please advise where to plant acers as I have a big collection,also should they be in a raised bed or in the ground. Thankyou

You should plant your trees in a spot where they have a bit of protection from the direct heat of the sun and from strong wind. Young trees can also be damaged by frost. If you have trees that have gold or variegated leaves, they should not be subjected to strong midday heat because they're more delicate.

Unless your ground soil is inferior, I see no need to plant the trees in raised beds. Your soil's pH range should ideally be 5.5 to 7.3.but can tolerate a lower acidic level if necessary.
