Abelia plant

How do I transplant a portion of an Abelia Plant. I would like to take a portion of a friends plant and put in my yard.

I couldn’t find information on dividing abelia so it must not be recommended. Stems will root and produce another plant under the right conditions. Read this; https://www.gardenguides.com/88463-propagate-glossy-abelia.html ^[1]
