It should only need watering just enough to keep the soil moist while establishing roots. Once the Yucca has been planted in the ground for at least a year, you will not need (once or twice a month) to water it but maybe once or twice during the summer, allowing the water to thoroughly soak into the ground with a soaker hose for a few hours.
