30’ tall Bismarckia has a hole in the trunk 10’ high, Found it under cutting old frond off.

The hole was bigger than a golf ball & had water in it. Do those red Blossom shoots leave a hole in the tree trunk. I just started last summer getting those red shoots with a little white flowers

The drainage and darkening around the hole is concerning.
This could be caused by an animal; bird or my concern is a disease issue or possible palmetto weevils.
