Q.Zucchini Plant

Anonymous added on September 21, 2013 | Answered

The skin on my zucchini is very thick, more like a winter squash. What can I do? I live in Arizona (Bullhead City). We plant in the fall, the end of Sept. or early Oct.

Three things that might make squash skin tough are, water, temperature and maturity. Too little water and too high a temperature will cause the skin of any fruit or vegetable to be tough. Squash is the world's worst about getting too old/large and having tough skin. And, sometimes, the variety can have a tougher skin than others.
