Zucchini rotting on the vine

Question

We have a large, full, zucchini plant that has blossoms. It started a zucchini then at about 3″ shriveled and rotted on the vine. Container gardening, organically treated for white fly and aphids, etc. Why are they not developing into a full zucchini?
