Zucchini Problems

For the past few years, my zucchini have been growing great until just after the plant blooms and the zucchini start to grow. They start to grow and then they just start to shrivel. The leaves have a slightly whitish color to them. You cannot wipe the white off. I even went so far this year to plant one plant in a pot quite far away from my garden and the same thing seems to be happening to all my plants. Please help. I am so frustrated that my plants keep dying.

The abrupt wilting is likely vine borer. This article will help with that:
