zoysia grass

Every year late spring/early summer my zoysia grass starts to go to seed, but I cut it before it does. Should I let it drop its seed and is it hurting it by mowing it while in seed? Also, if I let it go to seed, how long will it take for the seed to mature? I do not want my lawn to get a foot high.

Seedheads need to mature on the grass several months in order to germinate.
So the seedheads produced in the spring will not germinate when they are mowed or mulched into the grass.
Mowing frequently is recommended to prevent seedheads from forming and seedhead production usually only lasts a month for Zoysia turf.
