You don't mention which type of plant, so it will be difficult to say. Some plants require the cold and a dormancy, while others will need to be brought in the the winter. If this is one that you do bring in, then it will need some basic care.

Most plants will require as much light as you can give them, inside, and moderate to light watering needs The basic rule is to water when the soil is dry down to about 1/3 of the container. water until it comes out of the drain holes and repeat the process of letting it dry.
