Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI live in Ayrshire in Scotland where we get our fair share of rain. Nevertheless, many yucca trees can be seen around the place in apparently good health. I have a 10′ tall Yucca tree in my garden. Its bark has become soggy to the point of leaving the stem about halfway up (i. e. middle of stem). My question to you is. . . Does this tree have a future in its present state (i. e. can it be left alone to recover), or should I cut it below the soggy bark level, and re-plant both halves; the bottom into the ground, and the top half into the ground with rooting powder?

It sounds like the yucca may be exhibiting signs of root rot, likely from too much rain. If this is the case, there is little you can do but take cuttings off the part that is still good and start anew.
