Q.Yucca plant and ants

I see that this site’s Kristi Waterworth wrote an article about pests and yucca plants, however, it didn’t address a pest’s antics I’m dealing with. Once my yucca sends out stalks and begins blooming, ants begin climbing up the stalks and eating the blooms. These ants are tiny and seem to come from area hills. I tried ant spray, no luck. Short of sitting beside the plant and squishing them one by one, I would appreciate HELP!! Thank you so much!!

It's not likely that the ants are feeding on the plant, but rather on the sweet secretions being put out by a sucking insect pest, aphids, mealybugs or scale.

In Kristi's article in Yucca pests, she mentions ants in the section on mealy bugs.
