Q.Yucca Not Blooming

Anonymous added on April 22, 2014 | Answered

I have had Yucca growing in my garden for 15 yrs. It has blossomed continuously until 2 yrs ago. Each spring I clean out the dead leaves and add 10-10-10 fertilizer. It is now the time for me to clean out the bed. I can’t say the plants are overcrowded, but I could thin some out. What do you recommend?

Yuccas don't bloom every year. They are known to skip years. Just to be on the safe side though, I would add a bit of phosphorus rich fertilizer, such as bone meal, to the soil around the yucca. This will help to encourage blooming. Dividing plants won't hurt either, but this is up to you.
