Q.Yucca Leaf Burn

Anonymous added on November 11, 2011 | Answered

I live in Mesa, AZ and my yucca leaves seem to be getting burned by the sun (turn yellow and droop). I thought they were desert plants and were supposed to take full sun. How much water do they need if potted outside? I think it is a Yucca gloriosa or aloifolia. The one in the ground gets yellow leaves in the summer too.

It is likely a watering issue that is causing the yellow leaves, especially too much water. These are very drought tolerant plants and do not respond well to too much water, which will cause them to rot. Water only when the soil is dry to the touch when you check them.
