Yellow Squash and Cucumber Leaves

We planted a raised garden bed this year for the first time. I put cardboard in bottom to hold moisture. At first plants looked healthy but now leaves are turning yellow even though plants are living and growing slowly. Please advise.

They need fertilizer. Give them a weak solution though (1/4-1/2 the recommended rate on the package), so that you do not burn them.
