woolly aphids

I want to spray my plants for woolly aphids, but it says not to spray on hot sunny days. I live in Alabama and right now we are having a hot summer. Can I spray after the sun goes down, or will it create the same problem the next day when the sun comes back up? Otherwise, it will be October before I can spray and I just discovered my plant is covered from head to toe! (it is on the side of my house and I only see the top branches through the window, so I had no idea. I also have boring bugs in my Japanese maple…suggestions?
