Planting in Philadelphia

With climate changes and warming in NE U.S., specifically in Philadelphia, can we start to plant earlier? We live in Philadelphia and it’s really warm out now…60 to 70’s in the day and 47 tonight, which is typical. We bring in annuals like geraniums, yucca plants, begonias inside the house in the fall and winter. Can we start planting them outside now? We usually wait until around Mother’s Day.

I would still recommend following your normal growing zone dates, though you can and should watch the weather patterns.
Ground temperatures are key to success when planting directly in the ground.
Remember that plants and seeds need those warm temperatures.
Plants that sit in wet and cold ground may suffer disease or be stressed.

Plants can be placed in a sheltered location to protect from late frosts.
