Q.Wisteria Frutescens

Zone Gambier OH 43022 | Anonymous added on September 12, 2026 | Answered

I am in garden zone 5a/b. Eastern Ohio. I would like to grow this plant. Do I need any special care to over winter? It would appear I am on the northern edge of its range. Is that correct?

It is hardy in USDA zones 5 to 8. I show that you are in hardiness zone 6b, so you shouldn't need to do anything special to overwinter the plant. If it is very young when you plant it, or you are planting it in the fall, go ahead and mulch it well with wood chips.
