Wisteria Cuttings – Propagating

I Have a Wisteria tree that has shoots coming up from under the soil, but right next to the tree. I cut 2 (one was 10″ tall with branches. The other was 15″ the same). I planted them in a peat/sand mix and covered them with large zip lock bags. There is good drainage and moisture buildup. They have been in soil for about 10 days and I noticed mold buildup on the plants. I took the plastic off and leaves started falling off and the top of the stem has turned from medium green to brown. What have I done wrong? I have 3 more green shoots coming from the mother plant. I don’t want to repeat my mistake. Please help!

They may be somewhere that is too warm, so make sure that they are out of direct sunlight and not too warm (60 -75 F is ideal). Second, your cuttings are rather long. I would recommend that the cuttings be 3-6″ long. Any longer than this and they cannot support themselves very well before the roots come in.
