Wisteria

I live in Arizona and planted a Wisteria vine last spring. I kept it alive during the hot summer months, but has always been a pale green (almost yellow) color. I have given it iron and that didn’t change the color. It died back in fall and now is starting to grow again, but it’s still looking like it has anemia. I have looked in my gardening books and found no help. Do you know what I can do to make it look healthy? Thank you.

I would have the soil tested. The soil may have too much phosphorous in it, which can block the uptake of iron, which causes chlorosis. It may also be lacking other trace minerals which could make it sickly. A soil test at your local extension office is the best way to pinpoint the deficiencies in the soil.
