Wisteria

Wisteria leaves turned yellow in August. It is now completely bare and the runners have no sap and are dead. Our second wisteria on the same pergola is healthy, green and no sign of disease. Should we dig up the dead plant and can we replant another in the same place?

Before planting again, I would have the soil tested.

If this wisteria was recently planted, this could be a case of transplant shock. It could also be a disease or insect pest. Look over both plants for any visible insect pests on the leaves and stems or in the soil. Also check these articles for some possibilities:
