Q.winterization of fig tree

Anonymous added on November 7, 2014 | Answered

I live in north New Jersey. I have a brown fig tree in the ground. The nights are getting frost. When should I wrap my fig tree? Should I wrap it now before the first to second frost or should I let the leaves fall off? It is getting to 50 degrees during the day and mid 30’s at night.

You can wrap it anytime you would like. It will not hurt it to wait another few weeks, but it will also not hurt it to wrap it now. Pretty much any time between when it first starts losing leaves and to where temps threaten to get into the 20's, is when you can start to winterize them.
