wintering hibiscus

We will have to winter our hibiscus in our unheated, unattached garage, as our house is too small to accommodate them. Do you think they will survive and is it necessary to keep them near the windows or not?

In your part of the country, they should be fine in the garage. If you allow them to go dormant (lose their leaves) they will not need a window.
