Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted 2 black elderberry shrubs and 3 smoke trees in late summer. They were small plants which I bought when they were selling out their plants. They seem to be growing well, besides the occasional deer eating on them. Would it help or hurt the plants if I were to cover them with styrofoam rose covers this winter? I am worried deer or rabbits will eat them down to nothing.

Both plants are deciduous and will drop their leaves during fall, so there’s no need in worrying about them being eaten. They should be fine left as is.
